Compare tortoise tables, heat mats and hides for UK reptile keepers, then open each listing to check dimensions, wattage and current details.
Reptile equipment needs to match the species you keep, because temperature, humidity and floor space needs vary widely. Find a reliable care sheet for your animal first, then choose an enclosure, heat source and hides that let you create the right warm and cool areas.
Many keepers house tortoises in an open table, which gives good airflow and floor space. A table needs a lamp stand or arm for heat and UVB lighting, and a lid if other pets or children are around. Measure the floor area against the size your tortoise will reach as an adult.
Heat mats are sold by wattage and size, so pick one that covers about a third of the floor or one wall of the enclosure. Always run a heat mat through a thermostat, and check whether the mat is meant to go under the tank or inside it.
A hide at the warm end and another at the cool end lets the animal regulate its temperature without giving up cover. Moist hides with a water reservoir help species that need higher humidity while shedding.
Note the length, width and height of the space, the height of the lamp above the basking spot, and the thickness of any substrate. These figures help you compare enclosures and check that heat equipment will fit.
Use a thermostat for every heat source and a digital thermometer at each end of the enclosure. Check readings at different times of day, especially when the room temperature changes with the seasons.
