What Size Bed Does a Large Dog Need?
Measure your dog lying flat on its side, from nose to the base of the tail, then add about 20 cm. A Labrador or Golden Retriever usually needs a bed of around 90 cm or more, and a German Shepherd or Bernese may need 105 cm or longer. Beds with high bolsters lose some sleeping space inside the walls, so check the inner size as well as the outside measurement.
Weight ratings help too. The Heymamba XL is listed for dogs up to about 36 kg, and the Jolibean 91 x 61 cm size for dogs up to about 27 kg, with bigger sizes up to 142 cm for giant breeds. Should You Choose Foam or Fibre Filling?

How Do You Make a Large Dog Bed Last?
A big bed costs more, so a few habits pay off.
- Let a vacuum packed bed expand fully, often 24 to 72 hours, before your dog uses it.
- Vacuum hair off the cover each week and wash it at the temperature the maker gives.
